January 9, 2012 - Thanks to the U of A Pandas Volleyball organization and to the University of Tsukuba Women's Volleyball Team

Our Club was extremely fortunate to be involved in the University of Alberta PANDAS Volleyball Team’s New Years Classic - watching  exceptional varsity volleyball, playing against competitive teams in the affiliated Invitational Club Tournament, shagging balls at the varsity matches, and opening our homes to visiting Japanese athletes. A highlight of the weekend was the on-court training interaction between the University of Tsukuba Women's Volleyball Team and our PANDAS Club athletes. It was an unforgettable experience for our coaches, athletes, and their families.

BC, SK & AB Club Team 17U/18U Exhibition Tournament: DRAW

Dear PANDA Volleyball Club Parents/Supporters,

As you know we are hosting the University of Tsukuba Women’s Volleyball Team from Japan from 04-08 January 2012.  We are looking to support their visit by providing home stay’s with PANDA Varsity athletes, alumni and family.  We also provide meals, all of the logistics and other needs during their stay to make it as enriching and rewarding as possible.

As you can predict, hosting an event like this has a considerable cost that our varsity program incurs.  We would like to ask you for any support that you may be able to provide in supporting the PANDAS Volleyball Team in this event.

1) We are in need of Home Stay/Billets for the Tsukuba Athletes. Basic Requirements for hosting the Japanese athletes in your home stay:

  1. Accommodation for 2 athletes (bed/futon/pullout for each athlete)

  2. 4 nights stay

  3. Provide breakfast meal (possibly evening light snack on return from the day's activity)

  4. Ideally, we would prefer home stay locations that are close to the U of A - South Campus, South Edmonton, West Edmonton, or in similar areas in the city (to make pick up and drop off travel more manageable)

  5. If you are interested, please indicate the details of the home (address, sleeping arrangements (upper/main/basement level), individual/shared bedroom, pets in the home, etc.)

2) Sponsor meals for Tsukuba University

  1. We are responsible for the Lunch and Dinner Meals during their stay

  2. If you are a restaurant entrepreneur and would be willing to sponsor a meal for Tsukuba University please let me know the name of your restaurant, food genre, location and what type of discount/sponsorship you could provide

  3. Similarly, if you have a connection with someone in your personal network that is a restaurant entrepreneur and you would think might be interested in sponsoring a meal, please let me know and I can proceed based on your recommendation

3) As well, we would like to offset the logistical financial responsibility that we incur for rental vans

  1. The PANDAS Volleyball team will be renting a 15 passenger van to transport Tsukuba Athletes & an 8 Passenger Van for Tsukuba Staff and equipment

  2. We would appreciate any means to offset the costs of these vans or potentially resources that could provide this type of transportation at a discount

We hope that you or your connection via networks would be willing to sponsor a component(s) of this event.

We would be very grateful for any assistance (individual or corporate).

We could potentially provide recognition of businesses which offer support via media signage for corporate sponsors at the matches.

Thank you in advance!  I look forward to hearing from you and see you at the matches!
